The Chicago Woodturners are pleased to present a Woodturning Symposium located in the heart of the Midwest, featuring the finest demonstrators, artists, and educators in the woodturning field.
Featured Demonstrators:

A founding member of the American
Association of Woodturners (his AAW membership number
is #001), David is known around the world as a visionary,
teacher, demonstrator and educator in the field of
woodturning. His demonstrations will include Hollow
Forms, Bowls and open forms, and design considerations.
Alan has been involved in the turning
field for over thirty years as a turner, teacher,
writer, exhibition coordinator, demonstrator and
past president of the American Association of Woodturners.
His work has appeared in a number of regional and
national shows and exhibitions. Topics will include
tool making, sharpening and use of the skew chisel.
Binh's work starts with a vision of
the East, and his journey to the West. It also starts
with a thinly turned vessel to apply his piercing
and airbrushing techniques. In demand as a demonstrator,
his work is in many prominent collections and museums.
Binh will demonstrate thin-walled turning and his
signature surface enhancements.
A "gentleman" turner and author who
is well known for his nine books and various articles
on woodturning. He is known for his precision work;
sharp, clean lines and simplicity of form. Dick combines
the dexterity and skill required by his former work
in tool-and-die and quality control with the eye
of an artist. Dick has traveled widely as a demonstrator
and teacher in the United States, Australia, England
and Norway.
Steve concentrates on developing
intricate surface decoration using metal leaf, color,
and pen and ink on his hollow vessels turned primarily
of maple, walnut and cherry. Steve has demonstrated
at numerous symposia, and his work is in several
notable collections. Use of the captured boring bar,
dyes, and surface design will be covered.
Both artist and instructor, Curt
exhibits his work in some of the finest galleries
and collections. A pioneer in the teaching of segmented
turnings, Curt's demonstrations will take you through
the steps to fine segmented work, including design,
feature rings and sander set-up.
Jacques creates sculptural turned
wood pieces that reflect the spirit of nature. Turning,
carving, pyrography techniques and color enhancement
are combined to create fine art from the lathe, fine
art featured in museums and private collections.
Jacques will demonstrate his techniques and design
philosophies.
