Welcome to the Chicago Woodturners (CWT). This club, located in the Suburban
Chicago Area, provides a forum to promote the art and craft of woodturning through education,
information and community programs.
The Chicago Woodturners have been organized as club since 1987. Originally we were known as
"Woodturners of Northern Illinois". In 1991 the name was changed to the Chicago Woodturners
Club. We are a local chapter of the American Association of Woodturners.
Although membership in the AAW is not a requirement of membership in the CWT, it is highly
recommended. Membership in the CWT has been as high a 200, and a typical meeting draws about 80
attendees. It's a perfect opportunity to meet other Woodturners from novice to studio artists.
Visitors are always welcome as are new members. Our meetings are held on the second Tuesday of the
month starting at 7PM. We meet at Christian Liberty Academy in Arlington Heights, IL. Our club
offers a mentoring program to individuals that feel a one-on-one experience would enhance their
learning. In addition, our monthly meetings include a "gallery" review of members projects. It's a
time to get needed feedback on individual creations. Following the review a club member holds a
demonstration on a topic of their choosing. The demos are intended to appeal to a wide range of
turners with different levels of experience. Our club is a friendly place to learn and share ideas
with other members.
