Education

The Chicago Woodturners are dedicated to education. Our major fund raising activity is the bi-annual Turn-On! Chicago symposium. The symposium brings together world class demonstrators from around the world. We spend 3 long days of learning and exchanging ideas with the demonstrators, vendors and more than 200 attendees. The symposium also includes an auction of special turnings, tools, DVD’s, and other items useful to the craft of woodturning. The funds from this auction fuel our educational programs.

We have a committee chaired by Rich Hall-Reppen, a long time member and current president of our club. He and his committee members meet regularly to come up with programs to enhance the learning of CWT members and the community. They have established a Grant Program and Mentoring Sessions. In addition to this they have offered scholarships to attend Turn-On! Chicago, membership to the American Association of Woodturners, and other valuable projects. None of this would be possible without the support of our symposium and the diligent work of the committee.
