Meetings, Membership, Mentors, and More

Meetings
Meetings are at the heart of the club. Visitors are welcome. On the second Tuesday of every month we get together in the basement of Woodcraft in Palatine. The meeting officially starts at 7:00 and ends at 9:30, but the experienced members allow extra time before the meeting to look at the items on the Gallery table, meet with friends, visit the library, and toss a few raffle tickets into the bucket. The meetings consist of:
  • A short business meeting
  • A welcome to our visitiors
  • A raffle
  • Gallery Critique
  • A demonstration (a shorter, free version of the Saturday Demonstrations)

Membership
You can start by visiting us, either for a monthly meeting or one of our special events such as a Saturday Demonstration. When you decide to become a member, annual dues are $25 per year for an individual membership, or $35 per year for family memberships. Dues are billed annually in December. Please see the CWT Membership Application form. Just fill in the form and a check, and bring them to the next meeting. Or, mail them to:

AAW Membership
We are a chapter of the American Association of Woodturners. Membership in the AAW is not required, but is highly recommended. You'll become a better woodturner the day you join.

Mentors
If you are interested in some individual instruction, club members are available to teach. This is the current list of mentors, the skill level of students they teach, and whether they charge for their services. To contact one of these mentors, either visit the next monthly meeting or (if you're a member of the CWT) check the CWT Roster on the Bulletin Board.
